This weekend on my "free time" I'm starting up www.mavoracards.etsy.com again. It is officially my new baby store! I know all these beautiful brides now that are in new territory - baby territory! I've been getting so many requests that I figured I should just get in all the way. And besides, I LOVE making new baby stationery! So I only have a few things up right now but I expect to open for reals on Valentine's day! If anyone has special requests go ahead and throw them my way! I'm designing NOW.

vacation time warp

Five whole days with not a drop of internet - it was like I entered a time warp that stopped the chaos and brought on the fun! I loved being away with my family doing a lot of our very favorite things. TIm and I hit the Southern California Half Marathon and 5k (we did the 5k and I worked hard for a new personal record). Then the Aquarium of the Pacific, and finally, the big one - Disneyland! Thanks for waiting for me!

Alright brides, I am super booked and, because of a part time job my husband picked up for 6 months, I have to take less clients for a while. Give me as much time as you can when ordering save the dates and invites because when I'm booked they take a whole month. You've been warned!!!! Thanks so much for being fabulous clients! I especially appreciate all my returning brides and grooms!

And now I am going to Southern California for an extended Christmas vacation so I will talk to you after the 10th!

project 365 - dec 29

Tim and I are still doing project 365. This is my picture for Dec 29th. An unexpected present from my Dad. I'm sorry I just made you jealous!

i love christmas

It's very hard to get a little work done around here. Tim is out of school and some friends are in town and I just want to PLAY! Luckily I don't have a full client load but I'm also leaving for vacation on the 6th so I feel like I should kick it into gear here....next week for SURE!

I love being a stationery designer/printer sometimes. It can really come in handy in a pinch.....

So, Grant has a great Kindergarten teacher and I was thinking about a teacher Christmas present tonight. And it came to me - something awesome I can do for FREE!

I had Grant draw a picture of his school and his teacher.

I scanned it and roughly traced it in Illustrator. 

Then I finished it up on a 5x7 sheet in Photoshop.

I printed on card stock that I don't sell anymore at mavora.etsy.com and used some leftover colored envelopes that have been in the filing cabinet for a while.

Bada-bing bada-boom! Super cute teacher stationery right!? I just pulled that out of NOWHERE! 

getting down to business

I've been getting down to business lately; balancing wedding clients, working on new designs and processes at my other job at Coram Deo Christian Church, and knocking out the christmas cards and homemade gifts! I found this on Pinterest and it's my new motto. It's so me!

Tim and I are giving oatmeal cookie jars to the family this year. I'm going to gamble that my family won't check this page before they get theirs..... if they are reading: shut your eyes right now!!!!!

I'm so proud that we accomplished chalk board paint on the side of the jars! Tim taped it off and I learned it doesn't really go on smooth so sand it down with 150 grit sand paper when dry (before you un-tape it). Also you can prime with a chalk rub and wipe off. Then you're really ready to go! 

In my 1 quart mason jar there is :

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

2 cups of regular oats

1 cup of flour

1tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

raisins to fill the jar

I have a friend in the hospital. She'll be there for another month at least. She's young and amazing and this is ver unexpected. Last week before my visit I really wanted to bring something that would be pretty and encouraging so I designed an encouraging illustration and framed it. (above) 

Next week I hope to paste a giant paper full of cards from her friends at our church. Her vision is very bad at the moment so I'm thinking of lining the cards up to make a big cross or heart. She can't read each card but I want her to see the big picture of love. You can say a prayer for her if you'd like. Her name is Jenni.

And to all my readers who give tirelessly to sick loved ones or are hurting yourself. This picture can be for you too. Feel free to print it at no charge.
